Self checkout for grocery stores and supermarkets
Grocery stores have the longest weekend queues in Indian retail, and many of those baskets are small: a few packets, a bottle of oil, some snacks. Those shoppers wait behind full trolleys. With QwikExit, small basket shoppers scan and pay on their phone and leave through an express exit, so your counters are left for big trolleys and weighed items.
Is scan and pay suitable for grocery stores?
Yes, for packaged and barcoded goods, which are most of the items in a modern supermarket. In a pilot:
- Packaged goods with a barcode go through the app.
- Loose and weighed items such as fruit, vegetables and loose staples stay at the regular counter, because they need a weighing scale.
- Shoppers without the app use the counter as usual. Nothing is taken away from them.
Prices, offers and combos
Grocery runs on offers. We sync your offers together with your prices from your ERP or POS, and the app must charge exactly what your POS would charge. If a price does not match, the item is flagged instead of being sold at the wrong price. Offers can be shown to shoppers near your stores only, so a city specific deal stays in that city.
What the store needs
- Your item master with barcodes and prices, from Ginesys, LOGIC ERP, any POS through our API, or an Excel file to start.
- QR standees at the entrance and in the aisles, which we provide.
- A guard at the express exit with a smartphone.
- A Razorpay account so payments land with you.
Keeping shrinkage in check
The exit pass shows the item count, item types and price band, so a basket with a swapped or missing item stands out. Every cart gets a risk score, random full checks run in the background, and during a pilot we compare shrinkage against a similar store that does not use QwikExit.
For a step by step rollout plan, read the grocery self checkout setup guide.
Try it in one of your stores. A 30 day pilot runs as an express lane next to your existing counters, and we measure the difference against a similar store.

Common questions
Is scan and pay suitable for grocery stores?
Yes, for packaged and barcoded goods. Loose and weighed items such as fruit, vegetables and loose staples stay at the regular counter, because they need a weighing scale.
Will grocery offers and combo prices match our POS?
Yes. Offers are synced together with prices, and the app must charge exactly what the POS would. A mismatched price is flagged instead of being sold.
What if the network inside the supermarket is weak?
The catalogue is kept on the phone, so scanning works on a weak signal. Only payment needs a connection.
